A superior school system, quality housing in a variety of price ranges, recreational amenities and employment opportunities are some of the reasons that Gilbert has attracted new residents and businesses.

Formally know as the "Hay Capital of the World", Gilbert was named for Robert Gilbert who donated land for the main railroad station. Gilbert maintains a proud sense of its Old Western flavor and charm while surging into the twenty-first century.

The town's history is on display at the Gilbert Historical Society Museum. The neighboring small town of Queen Creek stands tall in the country music world. Country Thunder USA, a four- day country music festival, is held every April on Schnepf Farm's Festival Site. The total attendance exceeded 150,000 last year. Past entertainers have included Clint Black, Reba McEntire and Brooks and Dunn. Schnepf Farms also hosts the Western Sheep Dog Trials and the National Helicopter Finals.
